I am a little disappointed that others blogged about the David before I did! It is not that there is nothing else to post, quite the contrary. This whole trip has been amazing and the only reason that I have not posted yet is that I am having difficulty with the computer being in Italian and the different keyboard. With that introduction, I would also like to comment on Michelangelo`'s David. It does NOT compare to the various copies displayed around Florence. He is just perfect and the detail shown is just amazing. Michelangelo uses the example of ideal beauty from Classical Antiquity and gives it potential for movement. David is in a relaxed pose, but he seems anything but relaxed. As I looked up at it, I thought I could even see David's heartbeat heavily in nervousness...it might just have been my heart beating fast as I was reacting to this masterpiece! He is just perfect!

I am also amazed at how much we've learned... names and places that I really did not know about before are second nature to me now.
